Toledo's science center will once again open its door to kids of all ages this Fall, but this time it has a new name.
Imagination Station will open in October after voters approved a levy to keep it open for the next five years. The former COSI got it's new name after more than 2,000 suggestions poured in from the public.
The science center, housed at the former Portside in downtown Toledo, promises to offer "Pure Science" and "Pure Fun" with all-new interior design and exhibits.
Budget constraints and failed tax levies forced COSI to close in Dec. 2007 after more than ten years in downtown Toledo. It re-opened in November after voters approved a five-year levy to fund the center's operation.
COSI began a campaign requesting the public's input in re-naming the science center after the November levy was passed. Center officials say eleven people each submitted the name Imagination Station.
