The Grinch has struck early, robbing a Salvation Army bell ringer near Cleveland.

Police in North Canton says the Salvation Army volunteer was confronted over the weekend by a group of four men with knives.

They demanded the red kettle or they would hurt the volunteer.

The Salvation Army says the bell ringer complied and the crooks took off with an undisclosed amount of money.
