The Defiance Highway Patrol Post is investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred on Tuesday in Williams County.
The crash happened at the intersection of CR 4 and CR F50 around 12:45 p.m. in Saint Joseph Township. Highway patrol said 33-year-old Casey Kline of Edon, OH was driving westbound on CR F50 when he ran the stop sign at the intersection with CR 4. Klineâ??s vehicle struck the passenger door of the Pontiac Sunfire being driven by 61-year-old Douglas Michael, of Edon , who was traveling on CR 4 Northbound.
Klineâ??s vehicle came to rest in a field on the northwest side of the intersection. Michaelâ??s vehicle also came to rest on the northwest side of the intersection after striking a utility pole.
Michaelâ??s passenger in the front seat, 42-year-old Timothy Hartsock, of Edon, was pronounced dead at the scene. Michael was transported to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN by Lutheran Air. Neither was wearing a seatbelt. Kline was wearing a seatbelt and was uninjured.
Highway Patrol said alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash.
