      Defiance man killed when SUV strikes motorcycle

      A Defiance man was killed Tuesday night when his motorcycle was struck by an SUV.

      A Defiance man was killed Tuesday night when his motorcycle was struck by an SUV.

      According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred around 9:00 p.m. on SR 15, just south of Schick Road in Defiance County.

      Troopers said a 2004 Ford Escape driven by 18-year-old Brittany Bird, of Ney, Ohio, was northbound on SR 15 when it went off the right side of the road and overcorrected, going left of center and striking a motorcycle. The bike was driven by 58-year-old Gary Saylor. He was not wearing a helmet.

      Saylor was was pronounced dead at the scene.

      Bird, who was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, was not injured. Her SUV was heavily-damaged.

      The crash remains under investigation.
