A community rallied together at a benefit fund-raiser for a little girl undergoing treatment for leukemia.
Emah Starkweather of Wauseon was diagnosed in August with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, just days after her ninth birthday. She has already gone through two chemotherapy treatments at Toledo Childrenâ??s Hospital. Emah will soon undergo a bone marrow operation with her sister at a hospital in Columbus.
â??Itâ??s been very hard, Iâ??m at the hospital every day, I stay every other night,â?? said Renata Meeker, Emahâ??s mother. She added, â??To juggle that with my other three kids, itâ??s not easy.â??
Hundreds of motorcyclists and supporters rolled into the Delta Eagles on Saturday for a poker run to raise money for Emahâ??s treatments.
The event included dinner and payouts for best and worst poker hands obtained during the ride. Dozens of items were also donated for a silent auction, which included Ohio State Buckeyes memorabilia and even a piece of artwork, created by Emah herself.
