On Monday, victims of domestic violence will begin using a new waiting room at Toledo Municipal Court.
The domestic violence waiting room was created to ensure victims don't have to confront their attackers in the crowded hallways outside the courtroom.
"Honestly this room, we're hoping that it increases victim participation. As we know, unfortunately, domestic violence victims, for one reason or another, don't really participate in the court process. We're hoping we can provide them with a comfortable and safe environment," Assistant City Prosecutor Christopher Lawrence said.
Lawrence added that the court, the Toledo Prosecutor's office and mayor's office worked together to make the waiting room a reality.
It will be staffed by a domestic violence prosecutor and domestic violence advocates.
