Sat, 15 Feb 2014 16:00:00 GMT — Savers Thrift Store has come forward with a weekend event to help the families of two Toledo firefighters killed in the line of duty. From Saturday, Feb. 15 through Monday, Feb. 17, the Savers Thrift Store on Executive Parkway will hold a donation drive in honor of Pvt. Stephen Machcinski and Pvt. James Dickman. Pvts. Machcinski and Dickman were killed while fighting a blaze at a North Toledo apartment building in late January. Dickman left behind a wife, young daughter and infant son. To raise funds for both of the men's families, Savers will contribute cash for every public donation of clothing, shoes and household items made during the drive. In addition, Savers will also pay Easter Seals for each donation made by the public during the 3-day period. Savers asks that all donations, for the drive, include a flyer to make sure proceeds benefit the fallen firefighters families. Donations of clothing, toys, household items, bedding, bath items, shoes and accessories can be dropped off between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Saturday and Monday. On Sunday donations are accepted at Saver's at 3550 Executive Parkway from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
