Number of Lucas County norovirus cases jumps to more than 300
The Toledo-Lucas County Health Department says the number of norovirus cases related to a Maumee doughnut shop has climbed to well over 300.
But officials say the number of illnesses should start slowing down.
As of late Friday afternoon, the county health officials gave the go-ahead for the store to re-open after days of cleaning and inspections.
The Maumee store has been closed since Tuesday for cleaning.
Norovirus can cause inflammation of the stomach and intestines. Most people recover in a few days, but it can be dangerous for young children or elderly people.
