Leaders of the Toledo Warehouse District Association said real esate values have risen 111 percent.The Toledo Warehouse District Association is comprised of more than 60 downtown Toledo businesses. The organization helps private entrepreneurs access government funding to convert vacant historic buildings into commercial and residential ventures.Architect Tom Porter relocated his architecture firm to the Warehouse District five years ago. "We've been pleasantly surprised, more people are moving down here, and there are activities all the time, and people are going to restaurants all day and night," Mr. Porter said.
According to the association's leaders real estate values have risen 111 percent and district businesses have an annual payroll of $12.2 million.
Amina Khan recently returned to Toledo after living overseas for several years. She likes the transformation of downtown Toledo. "Having an art district and an entertainment district is so important," Ms. Khan said.
