The Defiance State Highway Patrol reports a driver is in critical condition Monday morning after running a stop sign on SR 18 in the village of Sherwood.
Troopers report Joe Plummer failed to stop at the intersection of US 127 and was struck on the driver's side by a southbound vehicle. Plummer's truck was pushed into a northbound semi truck on impact and struck the trailer axles.
Both the truck and southbound vehicle came to a rest on US 127, blocking the roadway. The semi truck trailer traveled off the northeast side of the intersection and struck a utility pole, coming to a rest in the nortbound lane of US 127.
Plummer was flown from the scene by air ambulance and taken to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to the report.
The other two drivers were wearing seatbelts, but their conditions were not released.
Troopers shut down the intersection for one hour to allow crews to clean up the scene.
