      Driver killed in U.S. 23 crash in Dundee rest area

      A car crash killed a driver traveling northbound on U.S. 23 in Summerfield Township Friday.

      The Monroe County Sheriff's Office said the crash happened before 12:30 p.m. near the Dundee Welcome Center Rest Area.


      Investigators have not identified the driver until the family has been notified.


      A 2001 Pontiact mini-van was exiting the rest area and continued speeding into the parking lot until it collided into a recreational camper and trailer.The driver was wearing a seatbelt, but was pronounced dead at the scene.


      The owners of the trailor or tractor were not injured.


      Authorities have not ruled out if alcohol was a factor in the crash. Monroe Community Ambulance, Whiteford and Summerfield Fire Departments assisted at the scene.
