Elderly Toledo man's death possibly heat-related

According to the Toledo Blade, an elderly man appears to be the first heat-related death of the summer.

The paper says that 75-year-old David Hoffman, of East Toledo, died at a Toledo hospital on Friday afternoon with a body temperature of nearly 109 degrees.

A family member allegedly found Hoffman at his Woodville Road home when he didn't answer phone calls.

The Blade reports the temperature in the home was above 90, the windows were closed, there no fans were running, and the air conditioning was off.
