Election Day votes to decide mayors, taxes and hotly contested races

Tuesday is Election Day in northwest Ohio.


he polls are open in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan as voters in four cities consider their next mayor.

Toledo, Monroe, Oregon and Perrysburg voters will decide who will occupy the mayor's office in 2014. Several municipalities also have council seats up for grabs.

In the Glass City, the race for mayor has been a contentious one, with incumbent Mike Bell and Councilman D. Michael Collins differing on many issues.

Toledo Public Schools is asking voters to approve a renewal levy which currently provides the district with $13 million in annual funding. The district also has three school board seats up for grabs.

Springfield Local Schools is asking voters to approve a new 2.9-mill operating levy, while Ottawa Hills and Anthony Wayne also have levies on the ballot.

In Ohio polls are open from 6:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. Michigan voters can cast ballots from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.
