Smart answered questions for the media prior to the event. In reference to what she wants readers to take away from her story, Smart said, â??I want people to walk away feeling they have a renewed sense of hope; feeling that whatever trials we face in life, that you can move forward, you can recover.â??
Those who attended the event at the Bowenâ??Thompson Student Union enjoyed dinner at a reception prior to Smartâ??s presentation.
Smart now dedicates her efforts to the Elizabeth Smart Foundation, working to prevent crimes against children.
