Families of young couple murdered in Holland home speak out

NBC24 is learning more about the two young people murdered in a Springfield Township home early Monday morning.

Family members say 20-year old Lisa Straub and her boyfriend 21-year old Johnny Clarke lived together at Straub's parents home where they were found dead. Jeffery and Mary Beth Straub were out of town. They left Friday for a seven day cruise to the Caribbean to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary but they are making their way home.

"Obviously they're in total shock and disbelief and they are doing what they can to get home," said Jim Verbosky, Lisa Straub's uncle.

"The family is in total shock," said Joe Cromer, Johnny Clarke's uncle.

"What kind of evil person could commit such a heinous crime on two young, good kids?" said Maggie Cromer, Johnny Clarke's aunt.

Family members speculate that the young couple knew their killer or killers because police have said there was no sign of forced entry.

They tell NBC24 that Clarke was a Bowsher graduate who played football in high school and that he was getting ready to enter barber school.

Straub graduated from Springfield High School and was attending Owens for nursing. She played volleyball and friends and family say she always had a smile on her face.
