      Family and friends of Darryl Stipes hope cold case will be solved

      I t's been nearly two years since the murder of a popular Toledo musician. The investigation into the death of Darryl Stipes remains at a stand-still.

      " W e need to know who did this , " said Dee Lynn, a friend of Stipes.

      O n June 21 2012, the 60-year-old drummer was gunned down inside his Sylvania Township home after being robbed. The shooters also shot and killed his dog. The case remains unsolved.

      " S ome one knows something. Someone has to come forward. If it was them, they want us to come forward," said Lynn.

      T he detective with the Sylvania Township Police Department assigned to the case said there are no new developments.

      " I t's hard to believe that he's gone , " said Claudia Anger, Stipes sister. T he one bright spot for Darryl's sister is her memories of his past as a drummer and his personality. "A character, he was a wonderful drummer, he always took time to talk to my grandkids about music, and when they knew uncle Darryl was coming up, they were excited. If he was late, they wanted to know where he was. He was a super guy," Anger said.

      F riends of Stipes plan to celebrate his life sometime in July.
