Family of Eastern Mich. murdered student plans tribute

The family is hosting the fundraiser Thursday 6 - 10 p.m. at The Big Digger on East Elm Street in Monroe.

The family of a murdered Eastern Michigan University student is hoping to find her killer by planning a fundraiser in the community.

The family of Julia Niswender is hosting a concert Thursday 6 - 10 p.m. at The Big Digger on East Elm Street in Monroe. Tickets cost $15 at the door.

Niswender, 23, was found dead in her apartment, in December 2011, across the street from the campus police station. Officials said she was drowned in a bathtub. Family members said her apartment had been locked but discovered the apartment in disarray.

Ypsilanti Police announced they had exhausted viable leads to her murder a few weeks ago. The family is offering a $10,000 reward.
