Family of slain Sandusky County teen pleased with grand jury findings

A special Sandusky County grand jury has determined that the March 2, 2012 fatal shooting of 19-year-old Jacob Limberios was an accident.

A Sandusky County grand jury has determined that the March 2, 2012 fatal shooting of 19-year-old Jacob Limberios was an accident.Limberios's death certficate indicates suicide as the manner of death, something the family has long disputed. Shannon Limberios, Jacob's mother, says the grand jury's ruling restores her son's reputation. "I'm pleased, we just wanted people to know that it wasn't suicide," Mrs. Limberios said.

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine gave a lengthy summation of the grand jury's work. DeWine says Limberios fatally shot himself while scratching his head with the muzzle of a gun. "We believe based on the evidence that Jacob Limberios did not intend to kill himself; this was a horrible, horrible tragedy," Mr. DeWine said.

The family says it will pursue litigation to force the Sandusky County Coroner to change Jacob Limberios' cause of death from suicide to accident.
