Fatal crash involving semi and vehicle in Delta

The semi driver was not injured, according to officials.

One person is dead after a crash involving a car and semi in Fulton County Tuesday evening.

The crash occurred just before 8 p.m. at the intersection of US 20 and State Route 109 in Royalton Township.

Investigators said 79-year-old Edith Detweiler, of Ann Arbor, Mich., failed to yield left to a commercial vehicle at a stop sign. She was killed after her vehicle struck the Freightliner truck.*

The truck driver of the truck was not injured.

US 20 was closed for approximately three hours Tuesday as crews worked to investigate and clear the scene.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says a lot of crashes happen near that intersection. â??What we ask for people to do is make sure that youâ??re aware of your surroundings and that you do look at stop signs and yield the right of way,â?? said Sgt. Chris Fitzgerald of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Investigators were able to tell what caused the accident through multiple witness statements.
