      Fighting hunger artistically

      Bowls created by local artists

The Empty Bowls Project of Northwest Ohio held their 2nd annual fundraiser at Gathered Gallery and Art Studios located at 23 N. Huron St. in downtown Toledo.

Over 300 bowls were created for this one day event in order to raise over $3,000. All of the proceeds will go to The Seagate Food Bank, to ensure that thousands of families will not be hungry over the holiday season.

Tobias Bird, who organized the fundraiser, said, "we really want to be the support out there, for all of the people in need."

Local artists from Bowling Green State University, University of Toledo, Perrysburg Middle School, Bowling Green High School and others came together in order to fight hunger artfully.

Bird said, "we had a lot of positive reviews, a lot of support throughout the season and throughout the year."

As for the future of the fundraiser, Bird commented, "we are going to look at a few different options including going a little bit lower like cups or higher like plates, so looking at empty settings. We really want to be the support out there, for all of the people in need."
