Findlay residents prepared for rising flood water that was already knocking on their front doors by Sunday afternoon.
Water levels in the Blanchard River rose to nearly 14 feet by mid-day on Sunday as residents prepared for the worst.
â??We got the basement pretty much cleaned out, and the garage weâ??ve got everything high off the ground,â?? said Brad Wright, whose home sits near the river. He continued, â??Weâ??re doing everything we can.â??
Flooding forced road closures throughout Findlay and Hancock County. Water spread through the downtown area, as residents began bailing water out of their homes.
The Red Cross has opened an evacuation shelter at Glenwood Middle School to assist those affected by the flood. The shelter will provide all the essentials to help over 50 people.
Flooding is expected to continue through Monday morning.
