Findlay Police vehicle, foot chase ends with use of Taser

Ferdinandsen has been booked into the Hancock County Jail on a charge of failure to comply with a police officer.

A Findlay man has been arrested after leading police on a chase by car, and then by foot, through the city of Findlay Thursday morning.

An officer attempted to stop a Doge Ram pickup driven by 54-year-old Robert L. Ferdinandsen around 4:30 a.m. in the area of Frazer Street and Bolton Street, according to Findlay Police. When the driver failed to comply with the stop and attempted to flee the scene, the officer pursued the truck through several residential streets and yards.

Ferdinandsen eventually drove through a yard at 712 College Street before attempting to drive in between a pole and several trees on the property. The truck struck the telephone pole and a tree before becoming lodged between them.

The officer then chased Ferdinandsen on foot, finally deploying his Taser on the suspect.

Ferdinandsen was arrested and treated at the scene for asthma-related issues. He has been booked into the Hancock County Jail on a charge of failure to comply with a police officer.

Findlay Police have not said what prompted the initial traffic stop.

      The incident remains under investigation.
