Finishing touches being made at Hollywood Casino Toledo

A new entertainment mecca for Northwest Ohio will open its doors to the public next Tuesday-the Hollywood Casino Toledo. the Penn National Gaming casino was built at a cost of $320 million on a 44 acre plot of land on the banks of the Maumee River(on the Rossford side). There are in excess of 1,300 full and part time workers, and the company says that 90 percent of those people are residents of Toledo and surrounding cities. The casino comes equipped with a total of 2,666 gaming positions, of which 2,000 are electronic. Jason Birney is Vice President of Marketing. "This is definitely a first for Toledo; when people come here they are going to be floored," Mr. Birney said.
The casino provided these facts about construction, lighting and food and beverage.
10,300 cubic yards for the casino; 27,600 cubic yards for the parking garage.
1,600 tons of structural steel; 127,000 tons of stone.
2 million feet of electrical wire; 5,000 light fixtures; 880 surveillance cameras.
16,700 feet of beer lines going to 54 taps
72,000 feet of liquor lines with 48 different brands.
The casino will open at 2 p.m. next Tuesday, May 29 and will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
