Fire destroys Eastwood Schools bus garage, admin building

Fire is seen at the Eastwood Schools bus garage.

Fire destroyed the administration building and bus garage of the Eastwood Schools District Saturday morning.

Fire crews from seven area departments responded to the blaze, which was reported at 7:24 a.m. at the structure in Pemberville.

Troy Township Fire Chief Randy Woodruff said no one was injured, but the structure was a total loss. The damage included two pick-up trucks, a snow plow utility vehicle, and administrative offices on the east wing of the building.

All of the district's buses were saved thanks to the quick actions of several people, who were able to move several buses and office computers away from the area.

The cause of the blaze or financial burden to the district is unknown at this time.

Classes have been cancelled for Eastwood Schools on Monday due to the fire and winter weather.
