Firefighters battle building blaze in West Toledo

The apartment wall began to collapse as the fire burned on.

UPDATE: After a four hour battle, Toledo firefighters extinguished a vacant apartment blaze in West Toledo early Thursday.

Flames and smoke were reported coming out of the old building, located at 4014 Eastway Street, just before 4 a.m. No one was injured and the cause is still under investigation, according to the Toledo Fire Department.

ORIGINAL REPORT: Toledo fire crews are battling a fire at an apartment building on Eastway Street near West Sylvania Avenue.

Our crew at the scene says Eastway has been blocked off due to the fire. People who live near the building tell our reporter that the apartment building was vacant and no one was believed to be inside.

Fire crews do not have any information to report as they battle the blaze.
