Toledo Police have arrested a suspect in the first homicide of 2009.

Police arrested 42 year old Robert Parker and charged him with the murder of 74 year old Donald Lee. They say Parker confessed to stabbing Lee several times and then setting Lee's apartment on fire.

Parker was booked at the Lucas County Jail and will be arraigned Monday morning at Toledo Municipal Court.

Just four days into the New Year - police are already investigating how a man ended up dead inside his apartment on the 300 block of Belmont.

Brooklyn Pinkney's uncle, Donald Lee, was found dead inside. She says, "Someone broke into his house, stabbed him, set him on fire and he's gone. They took him from us and we want to know who did it."

Toledo fire crews responded to the fire after 9:00 a.m. Once the fire was out, crews found Lee's body.

Lee's niece, Robin Lee, says, "I don't know why somebody would do this. He was the sweetest man you could ever meet. I just want whoever did this to get caught and taken care of."

What started out as an apartment fire, is now what authorities are calling the first homicide of 2009.
