As the flu season approaches, health departments are hosting clinics to give flu shots.
The Wood County Health Department is holding a flu clinic Thursday at the Wood County Health Department from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Children under the age of 18 can receive a flu shot or flut shot mist for $10. Adult shots cost $20. Adults older than 65 receive a higher dose shot that costs $40.
Several groups of people have a higher risk of serious complications including children under age five, people with chronic diseases such as Asthma, COPD, heart disease and diabetes, pregnant women and adults 65 and over.
Each year between 5 and 20 percent of people are infected with the flu according to the Center of Disease Control. More than 200,000 people have been hospitalized.
The health department is partnering with the University of Toledoâ??s College of Nursing.
