Another late September like day to kick off the weekend. On Thursday, we only hit 72 degrees for a high in spite of full sunshine. We'll be a few degrees warmer on Friday compared to the 72 (normal hi=83) we saw Thursday. We get warmer, more humid and have showers and storms to deal with over the weekend before a BIG warm-up kicks in next week with an upper level/jetstream pattern change.
Clear, crisp and chilly out the door this morning with most backyards in the mid and upper 40's to start the morning drive. With the center of Canadian high pressure moving overhead and promoting sinking air motion we'll see nearly pure sunshine and light and variable breezes with unseasonably cool and comfortable highs in the mid 70's.
The weekend offers a mixed bag with Saturday being the "pick of the weekend" for outdoor fun & those "honey do lists". Saturday starts out cool and sunny. We'll be warmer and more humid with partly cloudy skies during the afternoon. High's will be near 80 degrees. Saturday night a weak wave moves through and will clouds us up and likely generate a few scattered showers and thunderstorms by daybreak. The boundary stalls and dances around the region throughout the day Sunday keeping scattered showers and isolated storms around throughout the day. Sunday won't be a washout - just keep an eye to the sky and pick your spots to do what you need/want to do. We'll see more muggy highs in the lower 80's Sunday afternoon.
Expect more of the same Monday and Tuesday - scattered showers and storms with muggy highs near 80 degrees both afternoons.
It looks like a return to more August/Summer like weather is finally in the cards as we head into late next week and the weekend. They've been setting unusual heat out west and we've seen an unseasonably cool summer thus far. The model trends I trust are showing a flip in the upper level flow flipping things around and finally bringing some heat and humidity... bringing highs in the 90's back into play - we've only seen one so far this summer.
If you enjoy sunny, crisp comfort get out there and after it Friday and Saturday. Pick your spots Sunday. Have a great weekend Friends!
