A former Clay High School athletic trainer who had sex with a student will spend a year in prison and must register as a sex offender for the rest of her life.
36-year-old Melinda Rober was found guilty in June of two counts of sexual battery after pleading no contest. She admitted to engaging in oral sex with a 17-year-old student in a school locker room in 2011 and 2012, and having intercourse with the same student inside his Oregon home in the fall of 2012.
In court on Monday, Rober was sentenced by Judge Gary Cook to one year in prison. He also classified her as a sex offender.
Rober was an employee of ProMedica Health Systems who worked with student athletes at the Oregon high school. She resigned from her position at the health group after being charged in 2013.
