FREMONT -- Officials arrested a former Fremont athletics coach Wednesday following an investigation that he allegedly had sexual relations with a student.

36-year-old Johnny Alridge was arrested and arraigned on one charge of sexual battery in Fremont Municipal Court. The judge set the bond at $25,000.

The Sandusky County Sheriff's Office were notified of the incident last week. An investigation revealed Alridge admitting to having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old female student.

According to Detective Captain Sean O'Connell, the teen also admitted to having sex with him several times at a local motel. Detectives told NBC24 they found several texts exchanged, suggesting the two had sexual relationship.

Alridge was the assistant football and track coach at the school at the time of the incident.

Officials believe it is possible Alridge had tried to elicit sexual relations with other students through the years.
