Two former Toledo mayors are supporting a Toledo Public School renewal levy on this upcoming November ballot.
Former mayors Carty Finkbeiner and Jack Ford joned TPS officials and community members at McKinley Elementary School Sunday afternoon.
They listed out reasons for why voters need to support Issue 24. The funds will help implement its transformation plan according to board members in a previous June meeting.
Issue 24 is a 6.5 mil renewal levy for the district. TPS leaders say $13 million are generated from the current levy. If approved that same amount would be generated for the next five years.
Earlier in June, the Toledo Public School Board's finance committee held a news conference to endorse the $6.5 million renewal levy.
District officials at the meeting said funding is needed after state-made funding cuts in education.
Voters first approved the levy in 2008.
