Fostoria boy hit by truck dies

Two days after he was hit by a pickup truck in a Fostoria roadway, a 9-year-old boy died from his injuries at a Toledo hospital on Saturday.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 74-year-old George Tucker was driving southeast on Columbus Avenue when the boy, Mavin Hamilton, ran into the street last Thursday. Mavin was taken to Fostoria Hospital for treatment, but later air lifted to a Toledo hospital. He passed away around 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Tucker was not injured. Troopers suspect alcohol was a factor in the crash and charges are now pending.

Mavin was a fourth grader at Fostoria Intermediate Elementary School. Superintendent Steven Pritts told The Advertiser-Tribune the school was devastated by the news.
