It didn't take long for the latest Fugitive of the Week to end up in the hands of the US Marshal Service.
Willie Harris was profiled on WNWO's exclusive series Tuesday night and authorities say they received three phone tips on Harris' whereabouts immediately following the broadcast. The man Marshals claim to be one of Toledo's most violent fugitives was taken into custody Wednesday morning in western Lucas County.
Harris was wanted for violently beating his pregnant girlfriend after she refused to have sex with him. Officials say that on Sept. 20, Harris caught up with his girlfriend as she was walking on the street. He dragged her in to a home on Palmwood, pulling her in by her hair and continuing to beat her with a hammer. He is said to have beaten her in the stomach in an attempt to harm the couple's four-month old fetus.
