Fourth, final suspect surrenders in Univ. of Toledo student kidnapping case

Nicholas Martinez

A fourth suspect wanted in connection with the kidnapping of a University of Toledo student has surrendered.

Nicholas Martinez, 19, of Toledo, was wanted by Bowling Green Police for the Aug. 18 kidnapping and robbery of a Chinese student from the Univ. of Toledo. He turned himself in to Bowling Green Municipal Court Tuesday morning and was later released on his own recognizance.

The surrender comes days after three other suspects charged in the case, Brittany Long, Hui Zhang, and Blake Long, all turned themselves in to police.

According to Bowling Green Police, the student, a 20-year-old Toledo man, replied to an online message on Aug. 17 asking if he would like to go to Cedar Point. The next morning, around 10:30 a.m., the student was picked up near his home by Long and three accomplices. The victim was driven to Bowling Green, robbed, and driven back to Toledo before being released by his captors.

The incident remains under investigation.
