Fremont motorcyclist killed in Ohio turnpike Crash

The Milan Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that killed a Fremont man on Wednesday.

The two-vehicle accident happened along the Ohio Turnpike near the Fremont toll gate, milepost 91, in Sandusky Township.

Officials say 33-year-old Douglas Rhoades was traveling eastbound, on a motorcycle, when he crossed over a concrete divider, went onto the westbound entrance ramp and then into the path of a tractor trailer.

Rhoades was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, but was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the tractor trailer, 56-year-old Roger Tooley of Kent, was not injured.
