Funeral home says its in possession of Baby Elaina's body

Eggleston-Meinert-Pavley Funeral home in East Toledo tells WNWO that it is in possession of 1-year-old Elaina Steinfurth's body.

The Lucas County Coroner had been in possession of the body since it was discovered in a East Toledo garage earlier this month.

Officials had said the body would be turned over to the family's choice of funeral home after an autopsy was completed.

Investigators, family and prosecutors had hoped the autopsy would reveal information of the cause of Baby Elaina's death.

The funeral home, located at 440 S. Coy Road in Oregon, says that it will be taking care of all funeral home related expenses.

Other additional expenses incurred by the family, including the purchase of plots for Elaina's father and sister, will be paid for using private funds.

Visitation at the funeral home's Oregon Chapel for Elaina will be this Friday from 2-8pm.

The funeral will then be held at 10:30am on Saturday.

Following those services Baby Elaina's body will be buried at Lake Township Cemetery in Millbury.

Elaina's paternal grandfather, Terry Steinfurth, Sr. tells WNWO that services will be open to the public.

The toddler went missing in early June after spending the night with her mother, Angela Steinfurth, at her mother's boyfriend, Steven King's, house on Federal Street in East Toledo.

Baby Elaina's body was found in a detached garage at that same on in early September, Toledo Police never revealed how they were able to locate the body.

King's mother, Julie, has told WNWO that it was her son, Steven, who told investigators where to find the body as part of a plea deal.

Angela Steinfurth and King are the only two people facing charges in the case, both are facing a count of obstructing justice.

King is due in court on Thursday, September 26th, Steinfurth is scheduled to appear at a pre-trial hearing on Wednesday, September 25th.
