Genoa man killed in car crash

The Sansdusky Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to a two car accident on State Route 163 in Clay Township, Ottawa County. 53-year-old Norman Shimp of Genoa was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle, Brian Manchester of Jackson, Michigan was unhurt. Police say that Shimp was driving eastbound on SR 163 when his Jeep Cherokee struck Manchester's tractor trailer head on. Both vehicles went off the road. Shimp's car caught fire. The Allen-Clay Township Joint Fire District extinguished the fire and discovered Shimp dead and trapped in his car. Police could not determine if Shimp was wearing his seatbelt.
