For the first time in more than 20 years, the Girl Scouts are updating their badges.

The Girls Scouts of the USA say the new badges will include activities like digital filmmaking, product design and local food movements... And will help its more than 3 million members take steps into the 21st century.

" This is the first major update of badges at every level since 1987," said Alisha Niehaus, representative of Girl Scouts of the USA. "We kept some favorites but added new ones that will help girls build the leadership skills they'll need for success in the 21st century."

They will also continue to offer the more traditional badges in activities like cooking and first aid. But badges such as Fashion, Fitness and Makeup have been taken out of the possible 136 badges a Girl Scout can get for her vest.

Other new badges include financial literacy, public policy and website design as well as one that deals with the Science of Happiness.
