Girl Scouts send thousands of cookies to troops overseas

Thousands of cases of Girl Scout cookies are loaded up for Heroes in Action.


he Girl Scouts of Western Ohio are sending a little love and a lot of sugar to military troops overseas.

The Girls Scouts' Operation Cookie campaign was a big success this year, according to the group.

The campaign compiled over 3,500 cases of everyone's favorite Girl Scout cookies from troops all over Ohio, including in the regions of Cincinnati, Dayton, Lima, and Toledo.

Air Force recruits lined up outside the Genesis Village in south Toledo on Wednesday to help unload cases of cookies being sent Heroes in Action.

The cookies were loaded up and sent to Heroes in Action on Wednesday. The Toledo-based non-profit organization provides services for both active duty and veteran members of the United States military. Each month the organization sends packages to up to one hundred soldiers serving overseas.
