Police in Bellevue are searching for a man who attempted to rob a gas station last week, but then told the clerk he was just kidding.
The suspect entered the Circle K gas station in Bellevue Tuesday, Dec. 29 just before 9:00 p.m. and demanded the clerk hand over all the money in the cash register. He told the clerk he was armed. However, when another customer walked in the front door, the suspect told the clerk he was joking and soon fled the store.
The clerk, who did not consider the attempted robbery serious at first, reported the incident to police almost an hour later.
The suspect is described as a white male, 5'8" tall with reddish-colored side burns. He was last seen wearing jeans and a blue and green winter ski coat.
If you have any information regarding this incident, or if you are able to identify the suspect, you are asked to contact Bellevue Police Capt. Matt Johnson at 419-483-4444.
