General Motors is investing more than a billion dollars into five factories including its Powertrain Plant in Toledo.
The $1.3 billion investment will cover those factories in three states.
Toledo Powertrain is receiving $31 million in upgrades to build more six speed transmissions.
$600 million is going to a Flint plant for a new paint shop. The factory makes full size pick up trucks.
$493 million is going to a factory near Detroit to build a new V-6 engine and 10 speed automatice transmissions.
Another Detroit factory is receiving a $121 million upgrade.
It's unclear how many jobs will be added. GM would say only it will create or keep 1,000 positions.
