Governor John Kasich was in Port Clinton Wednesday afternoon for "Fish Ohio Day."
I t's the 35th year for the event that promotes the state's fisheries. B ut the governor also signed an agreement to protect fish in Lake Erie and the industries that depend on it.
T he agreement is among state , federal, and international agencies.
I t sets the stage for educational campaigns and coordinates the treatment to fight off aquatic invasive species such as Asian carp, zebra mussels, and sea lamprey.
" T here's no way to 100 percent to prevent introduction of AIS, but we'll do everything we can in preventing those," explains Scott Zody, chief of the Ohio Division of Wildlife.
W ildlife officials say education is the best defense in the fight against aquatic invasive species.
