Grinch steals Salvation Army kettle

A holiday thief threatens to ruin Christmas for the needy.

A Toledo-area scrooge stole a Salvation Army kettle full of cash at The Andersons in Maumee.

NBC24 has learned a male suspect in his 40's walked in one set of doors, pushed the female bell ringer and walked right back out of the store with the kettle and stand in tote!

Witnesses say the suspect had a pickup truck waiting in front and as he drove off he reportedly yelled "I hate Christmas."

Toledo Police have recovered the black pickup truck involved which was stolen but no sign of the kettle.

The kettle could have contained $600-$800, a typical amount for that location on the weekend after Thanksgiving.

The Salvation Army has seen need rise significantly this year because of the economy.
