Group works to knock out hunger in final summer months
TOLEDO, OHIO (WNWO)-- Kids are about to head back to class and a non-profit is making sure they do not go hungry in these final weeks of summer.
Connecting Kids to Meals partners with the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library to bring kids hot lunches 5 days a week.
Currently at the Washington Branch they feed more than 70 kids a day.
In June they served 973 lunches at that location.
Librarians say the program has genuinely made a difference.
"They're all very very excited about the lunches when they come," said Librarian Eric Pfeffinger.
The group will serve kids through the end of the week.
Tomorrow we'll give you a behind-the scenes look from preparation to lunch time.
