Hancock-Wood Electric Cooperative had restored power Thursday evening to all customers who lost power Wednesday after winds and storms damaged lines and equipment.
??We appreciate the patience of our members impacted by the weather emergency,?? said Diana Hersch, director of communications and public relations for HWEC in a prepared statement. Hersch said people should avoid downed lines and notify utility companies.
"It also is best to call in when members see downed lines or experience a loss of power and not rely on others to do so or assume We do have sophisticated electronic equipment that allows us to identify certain types of outages automatically, but it may take longer to have power restored if we are not aware a specific area has been affected," Hersch said. Members can report outages toll free at 1-888-417-3010, 1-800-445-4840 or 419-257-3241 through an automated emergency call center system.
