Hazy, hot, and humid start to week

The heat is on to start this pre-Labor Day work week. We have seen a very cool summer with only one 90+ degree day officially thus far. Monday and Tuesday will offer Heat Indices into the 90's before some relief heads our way Wednesday and comfort returns for the end of the work week.

      GET: Extended weather forecast

Skies will be partly cloudy Monday morning. It's a mid and muggy start to the day with temps starting out in the upper 60's. The heat and humidity will build rapidly with the mercury climbing into the lower 80's by lunchtime. This afternoon skies will get milky in appearance and we'll grow increasingly hazy, hot and humid with temps getting into the upper 80's and "feels-like" temps getting into the low and mid 90's by mid-afternoon.

Another mild/warm and humid overnight is on tap. Skies will be partly cloudy with unseasonably mild lows in the lower 70's. Your Tuesday will be even warmer and more humid but storm chances arrise during the afternoon and evening hours. We'll see scattered showers and thunderstorms begin to build as highs get into the lower 90's Tuesday afternoon. Heat Indices should get into the mid 90's.

We aren't used to this kind of oppressive heat and humidity so be sure to take precautions and dress in light colored, loose fitting clothing, to drink plenty of water/stay hydrated and to take plenty of breaks from the sun and the heat. Also remember that our lour-legged furry friends need access to shade and water as they aren't acclimated either!

Relief from the heat and humidity arrive with the passage of a cold front Tuesday night. Wednesday will start with a few lingering showers before skies become partly cloudy during the afternoon as a cooler, drier airmass moves in. High temps Wednesday afternoon with be seasonable - in the lower 80's. Thursday and Friday look ver comfortable with highs in the upper 70's. It looks like chances of showers and storms return for parts of your Labor Day weekend... stay tuned
