ADRIAN, Mich. (AP) - The Adrian Planning Commission is holding a hearing on its proposal to limit medical marijuana operations to one business zoning district and bar them from sites within 500 feet of a church, school, park or playground.
The hearing is scheduled Tuesday on the plan the commission worked out at a meeting Jan. 4.
The Adrian City Commission would have to approve the plan for it to become law.
Under the proposal, only one caregiver could use a given facility. The Michigan Medical Marijuana Act limits each caregiver to five patients.
The commission's plan also calls for medical marijuana facilities to be at least 1,000 feet apart.
State voters approved medical use of marijuana in 2008, and The Daily Telegram says Adrian now has two known medical marijuana facilities.
