Heat wave continues Tuesday

The stubborn summer-like pattern shows no signs of breaking down anytime soon. More heat and humidity is in store right through the upcoming weekend. We'll be keeping an eye on the potential for damaging storms beginning tonight as well.
This is the first Heat Wave we've seen in more the three-quarters of a year... it was more than 9 months ago we last got into the 90's (9/11/13=95 degrees). We hit 90 in Toledo yesterday and will probably be even warmer today! Another hazy, hot and humid day is on tap with highs getting into the lower 90's and Heat Indices jumping into the mid 90's. We'll also introduce some strong winds this afternoon, sustained and from the southwest at 15 - 25 mph. The danger with these winds will be the effect they have on our bodies - sweat will be wisked away and you may not realize how much water you are loosing. Be sure to drink quarts of water if you are going to be working/playing outside for any length of time! My mid to late afternoon and into this evening we will likely be turning our attention to storms firing up and potentially becoming strong and severe. The Storm Prediction Center forecasts a Slight Risk of strong to severe storms will get going by mid to late afternoon and continue this evening, overnight and for a good part of Wednesday. Strong winds, large hail and torrentail downpours will be possible... stay weather alert and have an action plan to get you and yours to a safe spot if strong storms visit your neighborhood!
Overnight will be warm and muggy with scattered showers and storms and lows in the lower 70's. Beware of strong storms! More of the same in store tomorrow with heat and humidity, along with chances for strong storms. We'll see highs near 90 degrees tomorrow.
We won't be quite as hot for the end of the work week and the upcoming weekend - but it will still be umcomfortably warm and humid. The forecast is pretty much a broken record Thursday through Sunday with partly cloudy skies and the threat of scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly during the afternoon and evening. Highs will be in the mid 80's with humidity making it feel much warmer than that. Overnight lows will be in the muggy lower 70's.
Changes finally arrive early next week with the eventual arrival of a drier, cooler airmass!
Hang in there... be safe in the heat and on the lookout, with a game plan for those storms the will be firing up later today.
PS - Please don't forget your pets need access to shade and water day & night.
