Helping Hands for Haiti festival

The silent auction at the Helping Hands Family Festival

A family festival was held to support a school in Haiti.

The seventh annual Helping Hands for Haiti Family Festival raised money for the Brad Riddick School in Savanette, Haiti.

The festival was held at the Grace United Methodist Church in Perrysburg, this afternoon.

Jan Meier-Nielsen, co-founder of Missions International of America said that "105%" of the money raised is going to the Brad Reddick School.

The school has 300 students in kindergarten through grade six. "Sixth grade does not seem like much to us, but it is a huge education in Haiti," Meier-Nielsen said.

The festival included silent auctions including Haitian Circle of Life products, a bake sale, live music and youth activities.

"I hope we can have Helping Hands forever and ever, because we need to sponor the school. These kids depend on us," Meier-Nielsen concludes.
