The unemployment rate in Hancock County fell to 6.1% in July as more than 400 residents secured employment. The rate was 7.2% in June. Carolyn Rodenhouser, the workforce development administrator for JobSolutions, says a variety of industries added jobs in July. "We've been seeing a lot of hiring by our employers in the county in manufacturing, logistics, truck driving and health care," Ms. Rodenhouser said.
One of the companies that has added workers in 2013 is Centrex Plastics. The company makes goods for the automotive industry and home improvement stores. Owner Terry Reinhardt says the company is on pace to generate sales of $75 million in 2013. "We've hired 40 full-time workers this year and we are at 300 right now and we are looking to hire process technicians, operators and material handlers," Mr. Reinhardt said.
